My first love

I do not remember when I first saw you,
Or felt you,
Neither do I have a memory of your first look,
But all that I knew was
The love was true and it continues to be so.

Maybe you were like a colorful rainbow with pots of gold at the end,
Or like a majestic mighty animal,
With tails and claws or even horned.

You taught me the first words and rhymes,
told tales with witches and fairies
And some fables with beauties and beasts.
Some forgotten and some I pass to my children.

You grew and matured, as did I
You told me stories from around the world,
Even facts and gigs.
The colorful panels, the short red-turbaned people,
People from another planet still remain in my heart.

You showed me how a gang of kids solved a mystery keen
And how a naughty doll always landed in trouble.
You gave me a group of cool teenagers hanging in a choklit shop,
And made me fall in love with their friendship.
You told me stories of love and happy endings
And the stories of betrayal and longing.

And our conversations grew and grew,
Sometimes all day,
And at times all night long.
From murder mysteries to some philosophies
And of enticing jungles and majestic animals within.
Fascinating facts of the time
When the majestic dinosaurs were the king of the regime.

Then came a boy with a scar on his head,
Finding his way on platform 9 ¾
That boy still remains with me.
I visit him, his school and his friends from the time now and time then.

You give me advice; you prepare me for unknown
You make me laugh and make me bawl.
You make me see a light at the end of the tunnel
And you make me visit faraway places in a wink.
I come to you for comfort and in distress,
In sickness and in health.

The feel of your pages on my fingers,
that old rustic smell through which nostalgia lingers.
Can I ever get enough of you?
Can I ever get weary of you?
This is the bond forever
For, Oh, my dear Books I am addicted to you for life
The love is true and will continue to be so.
